The GCGC is an annual conference series that brings together the best current research in law, economics and finance relating to corporate governance. It is hosted each year by one of twelve leading universities across the Americas, Asia and Europe.
The series grew out of a 2012 Columbia–ECGI–Oxford conference, Corporate Governance after the Crisis, held in Oxford, where scholars affiliated with the European Corporate Governance Institute began discussing the feasibility of an annual series of world-class conferences on corporate governance research. The launch conference was held at Stanford University in June 2015.
GCGC is a not-for-profit association established under Belgian law, with its seat in Brussels, registered on 13 January 2014. It brings together leading universities as academic partners, practitioners as non-academic partners, and the European Corporate Governance Institute. The GCGC entrusts the branding, organisation and running of the conference series to ECGI.
Twelve academic partners host the series: Columbia University, Harvard University, Imperial College London, the National University of Singapore, Peking University, Seoul National University, Stanford University, Stockholm University, the University of Oxford, the University of Tokyo, Yale University, and Goethe University Frankfurt (Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE and the DFG LawFin Center).
They are joined by a non-academic partner, Japan Exchange Group.
